PRESS RELEASE

 

Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy is pleased to announce the hiring of Peter Mayhew as Principal. Mr. Mayhew has spent the last three decades as a Math Teacher at Menominee High School and head coach of the Maroon Girl’s Varsity Basketball Team. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Administration, is a father of four grown children, and an active member of Holy Spirit Church. Mr. Mayhew will replace Mr. Benjamin Pfiffner, who was hired in June of 2010 as Principal. Mr. Pfiffner tendered his resignation because of personal reasons prior to starting his employment as STAA Principal.

Mr. Mayhew brings to the Principal position 30 plus years of teaching experience, administrative experience as the head of the Math Department, knowledge of the community and community related issues, and a strong belief in the Catholic faith. He also has a proven record when it comes to motivating students, promoting teamwork, and being fair, consistent, and firm on disciplinary matters.

The Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy Board of Trustees is excited to have a proven leader and educator leading the Academy into the next decade. Mr. Mayhew will begin his employment with Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy on July 26th 2010.
